From Regret to Liberation
Dec 17th, 2009 by faith

This post was inspired by a post on regret.torments.me… Well, perhaps it shows that regret can be transformed into liberation… I hope.

OmG normally stands for “Oh my God” but I playfully pronounce it “Om G,” from the Sanskrit Om.

This is my first redirect from a negative to a positive, and considering that just about all of my posts have been negative until now, maybe there really is hope. That’s why I created OmG.liberates.me, a place where I post my “Oh my God” moments…

I’m getting fatigued suddenly, as if ego is trying to sabotage the completion of this post, this OmG moment. Geeeez….

I think it’s the first step toward acceptance of all that I failed in or failed to do. Because had I “succeeded” earlier to my heart’s content, I would not be here now, custodian of this portal of websites… “oceanfront property of the soul,” as I hopefully called it. Only this precise Unfoldment and sequence of events would have delivered me here. Only the failures and heartaches would have delivered me here. And if I can find the strength within myself to affirm the beauty of the Here, of Being Here, Now, then indeed, I happed upon my true dharma.

It is for this portal that I turned down MIT graduate school, turned down countless job offers, speaking engagements, so many opportunities, so many doors that once were opened and now are closed to me. It is because I was destined to land right here. Not that landing here solves any of my immediate worldly challenges, like how on God’s good earth I am going to make a living, but… either I affirm that being here is the right place, and celebrate with joy the discovery of my destined path… or I abandon the effort, and never look back.

Either… Or. Maybe this is why upon the last visit of my life to my parents’ home I went into the attic and allowed myself to remove just a handful of books (among the literally thousands), one of which was Either / Or by Kierkegaard. So when I close this page I will open my Kierkegaard, and continue on with this great journey and search.

OmG.
